The Lasting Effects of the Fellowship
“Did the Robert Wood Johnson Health Policy Fellowship help me in my career? I don’t think so. But did it change my career? Absolutely, absolutely.”
–Philip Marion, 1994-95 fellow
Tools for Change
The RWJF Health Policy Fellowship is more than a career milestone—it’s a transformative experience that changes the way fellows think about health care and their role in shaping it.
However, that transformation doesn’t end in Washington. It begins there.
When fellows return home, they carry their knowledge and experiences back to their communities, sharing insights with colleagues, inspiring students, and putting new programs into motion that create lasting change in their communities and across the nation. Some champion legislation, others redesign systems of care, and many shift their focus from the health of individuals to the health of entire populations.
“My experience in one word would be transformational.”
–Kirsten Johnson, 2018-19 fellow
Upon completion of the program, fellows also have the opportunity to connect with those beyond their cohort through the program’s vast alumni network. This network becomes a source of collaboration, mentorship, and inspiration, enabling fellows to amplify their impact by working together to confront the nation’s toughest health challenges.
